Konica Minolta DR-313 Drum Unit (Bizhub C258/C308/C368) Recycling Key Steps

1. Preparation and Disassembly

  • Light-proof Protection: Move the drum unit to a low-light environment or cover it with a black light-proof cloth. Prepare a dedicated toner vacuum cleaner and tools.

  • Old Chip Removal: Remove the old chip from the drum unit, as this component must be replaced after recycling.

  • Waste Toner Bin Disassembly: Carefully separate the waste toner collection part of the drum unit and completely clean out the collected waste toner. Note: Waste toner is a hazardous substance and must be properly disposed of.

  • OPC Drum Component Disassembly: Remove the fixing screws and carefully separate or take out the old OPC Drum. Since the OPC Drum is light-sensitive and has a fragile surface, it should be immediately placed in a light-proof cover after removal.

2. Cleaning and Core Component Replacement

OPC Drum Replacement

  • Install a new, highly compatible DR-313 dedicated OPC Drum.

  • Under no circumstances should you touch the surface of the OPC Drum with your hands during installation.

Cleaning Blade Replacement

  • This is a crucial step, as the service life of the blade ends simultaneously with that of the OPC Drum. Remove the old blade and thoroughly clean the residual toner and lubricant under the blade.

  • Install the new cleaning blade. Apply an extremely small amount of Toner Lubricant or fresh toner to the edge of the blade to protect the new OPC Drum from scratches during initial operation.

  • Charging Component Cleaning: Carefully clean or replace the charging wire or Charge Roller to remove any attached toner or dirt and ensure uniform charging.

  • Dust Removal Brush Cleaning: Thoroughly clean or replace the dust removal brush/fibers inside the drum unit to ensure cleaning effectiveness.

3. Reassembly and Testing

  • Precise Assembly: Reset all components accurately and tighten the screws in the reverse order of disassembly. Ensure the gears and latches on both sides of the drum unit are properly installed and move smoothly.

  • New Chip Installation: Install a new, programmed DR-313 dedicated counting chip. This chip is used to reset the drum unit Life Counter in the machine, allowing the machine to recognize it as a "new drum unit".

4. Machine Installation and Counter Reset

  • Drum Unit Installation: Carefully install the recycled DR-313 drum unit into the copier.

  • Print Quality Check: Run several test pages (such as color calibration or test pattern printing) to check for issues like background gray, black lines, blank spots, or uneven colors.

  • (Optional) Service Mode Reset: If the machine still prompts "end of life" after replacing the chip (in some cases), you may need to enter the machine's Service Mode and manually reset the drum unit Life Counter (IU Life / PC Life).
